I use photography as a means of self-expression; my pictures combine a curiosity for human emotion with a need to surround myself in nature. My goal is to evoke an emotional connection between the human and natural elements in the photograph. I see my photography as a way to preserve the beauty that calls out to me in everyday life and I choose subjects based on my desire to absorb that beauty.
When I shoot in solitude, I capture human emotion in my photos through self portraiture. I’m drawn to the play between shadows and natural light, and often incorporate local flowers or other elements collected from local markets or a recent run or hike through the woods.
